Internship Orientation Reflection

I did not attend the normal job site for my orientation. My mentor was off May 1st, and she offered the alternative time to be on April 30th, at a fundraising event. The event took place at Hilton Del Mar, and I attended from 3pm-6pm. I was helping with redemption, and giving out auctioned goods.  I am very pleased to have not messed up tremendously, as I think I would be the kind of person to drop a $2,000 bottle of wine on the floor, or accidentally insult someone fancy. I did not, however, and therefore it went well. I ended early and walked to the gas station. I wanted to buy ChexMix for $3 but my card declined.

I would love to begin to understand the mechanism of a nonprofit organization, as well as a “normal” working environment. I generally hope to just be of genuine use to my organization, as being a leech or a pest sounds lame.

I hope to improve my work ethic. Perhaps by being a part of an environment that is not standard to my usual environment, I will achieve this.
